I had Mr. Vahey for American History and American Government as a student at St. Joe's Prep. He was the Best teacher I ever had and learned alot. I especially enjoyed our senior class trip to Washington, D.C. which every senior class looked forward to. I am sorry he has passed on. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Regina, whom I knew as well.

Dear Regina and Family Members,
Harry and I go way back to 1964, when I entered the minor seminary at St. Joseph's in Plainsboro, NJ. I was 14 years old - Harry was the assistant director of students. I will hold in memory his dedication, zeal and enthusiasm as a teacher, coach and director. I can see that his life has blessed this world immensely and I can only be grateful to have been part of his life; a life that truly blessed my own. Know of my prayers and sincere hope for all who grieve his death. Tom Butler-Greenville SC

Larry and I worked with Harry at Maple Shade High Scool many years ago. We recall him as pleasant, caring and easy to work with. He was always a professional and a gentleman. He truly cared about the families he worked with. May the memories you have of him be vivid and sweet. Paula and Larry Ninerell

I first met Harry in 2019, when he went on holiday to Nantes in Brittany, with his wife Regina. This was our only face-to-face encounter, but one which was memorable. We had established contact shortly before, after a mutual cousin had put us in touch.
For context, Harry was my grandfather's first cousin, and since the latter had passed a couple of decades before, Harry was an important link for us to reconnect with our origins. These were with the Shevlane family, of Belmullet, Co. Mayo.
Of course, Harry was much more than that for us. He took an active interest in how we were doing. He showed solicitude for my own projects, giving advice from time to time. He conveyed kindness in all our communications, through email or telephone, and despite his failing health, he maintained contact to the very end. It was always good to hear from him, over the 5 years we kept in touch, especially as we were on other sides of the Atlantic.
We shared a love of history, of theology, and for God. Harry's devotion to the Church was obvious. Perhaps it was his Faith that gave him that positive and joyful temperament which always seemed to shine through in his demeanour. He was an inspiration for me, and will always be remembered.
In addition to my own prayers, the Shevlin family in Scotland are also sending Harry their love and prayers. Together, we are all thinking especially of Regina, of Rona, and their wider family in America. We keep them in prayer too.
With Condolences,
Anthony MacIsaac
