I was saddened to learn of the passing of Joe. What a wonderful human being. A very hard worker that gave of himself freely for the benefit of his community. He was always someone you could count on for an honest opinion and a person that would support the direction selected by the organization.
It's been mentioned in other notes here: but, that laugh it always preceded him and when I think of him, I can hear it like it was yesterday. Then there was that "that just about covers it" comment. Fond memories.
He used his woodworking capabilities to construct a camp table for my cabin in the mountains. It's our tradition that visitors burn their name into the table at the conclusion of their visit. It will serve as a constant reminder of Joe for my family and I.
To Joe's Family my most sincere condolences.

Uncle Joe
We will miss you. You were a wonderful and caring person who was kind to everyone. We truly appreciate all of the help you have given us over the years with my parents. They were so lucky to have both you and Aunt Janet, and I know that they will miss you tremendously. Thank you for the countless smiles you gave to our children when you made them the beautiful wooden rocking horse. That is a memory we will never forget. You will be forever in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Andy, Cindy, Christina and Matthew

To the Chiaravallotti Family, I am so so sorry for your loss. I have many good memories of Joe and when I joined Kettle Run in September of 1997, Joe made me feel very welcome. He was, in the best word, a pure gentleman and friend. I was very thankful and honored that I not only served under him when he was a Captain, Battalion Chief, and Deputy Chief, but also with him when he was not in a managment capacity. As someone who was relatively new to the fire service (I had approximately 3 years when I joined), I always valued his words of wisdom and absorbed it like a sponge. He had the years experience to back up what he was telling me and he always made sure that his men could be the best that they could be when it was necessary. He was always very approachable and I always enjoyed his company and his very contagious laugh. When you heard it, you knew that he was around. We are going to have to find someone else now that will say "That just about covers it". So now instead of having "22" on his helmet, his new shield will say "3:16" and he will wear that very proudly. I will certainly keep the family in my thoughts and prayers and will also know now that he will be keeping an ever watchful eye on me when I have to staff the engnine to serve our fellow citizens. Thank you that I was blessed to have gotten to know you.

To the Chiaravallotti Family, I offer my sincere condolences and sympathy. I have many good memories of Joe. I remember when he joined the ranks of Kettle Run Fire Company. Initially he came to us to be a member of the fire police to help with traffic at emergencies. It was not long before he decided to be a firefighter. His doing so was at a time when a large contingent of men joined from Marlton Lakes helping our membership grow. He took his assignments seriously whether it be training or emergency incidents. His sense of humor was always on display and if you heard his unique laugh, you knew he was in the area. Joe was a pleasure to have in our ranks as a dependable member, as a friend and level headed about the service we provided to the community. Again, my sincerest condolences to the family.
