Harry W. McFarland, 88, of Willingboro, NJ passed away in his home April 1, 2023 with his beloved dog, Marley, beside him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ramona Barrientos as well as his ex-wife and mother of his three daughters Jean R. McFarland.
He was father to Elizabeth McFarland of Memphis, TN and Victoria Prince of Charlotte, NC. His youngest daughter Anne McFarland preceded him in death in 1988. He was stepfather to Celeste Cambell and Lee Campbell.
He was Grandfather to Patricia Coker of Wyoming, Sarah Prince from Indian Land, SC and Richard Prince also from Indian Land, SC. Lylah McGaha, from Indian Land as well, is Harry's great granddaughter.
Mr. McFarland came to Willingboro in 1968 to become the Superintendent of Recreation and Parks for the newly created department. While in this role the title of Director of Public Works was added in the year 1978 until 2004. During his time with Willingboro Township he began events such as Willingboro Jazz Festival as well as Fun Day in the Park and Camp Sun-n-Fun all held in Millcreek Park, the same park he oversaw the construction of in 1973. He retired after 39 years in 2007.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023, 10am at the St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 145 West Broad Street, Burlington,NJ.
