Obituary of Geraldine M. Garcia
Geraldine M. Garcia,
“Gerry” passed on 9/19/21 after a battle with a cancerous tumor.
She lived a full life and although a Jersey girl, life took her to Las Vegas for 10 years & then returned East to rejoin and spend time with her mother & father, Adaline & Norman, whose bond was so strong for her and our family.
Upon her return to NJ and to make ends meet, Gerry took bartending training and worked "days" at the Jug Handle Inn, where she made many new friendships and had a loyal following.
She enjoyed the beach and there were some great trips to Hawaii, the Jersey Shore, Virginia, and St. Marten.
Carl (Gerry’s first husband) & Gerry had a son, Carl, on Christmas day in 1960 and was their only child. Steven Applebaum brought them to Las Vegas to expand the business from Philadelphia. Her last love was Al Garcia her husband of the last 19 years.
Gerry was a huge Elvis fan and we had the privilege to sit front row, center stage for 3 Vegas shows and left us with fantastic memories. Gerry wouldn’t wash her face for days after getting a kiss from “the King”. She enjoyed taking care of her homes & pets over the years. She loved to entertain and did everything “first class”.
She is survived by her son Carl Applebaum, his wife Joanne, and their children Curtis and Justin. Her husband Al Garcia will remain in Edgewater Park, NJ.
There will be a “Celebration of Her Life” at Carlucci’s Waterfront Restaurant, 876 Centerton Rd, Mt Laurel Township,NJ, (856)235-5737, on Saturday, October 16th from 4pm to 7pm. Stop by for some food and drink and let’s have a “toast” in Gerry’s honor.
