Obituary of Dorothy E. Johnston

Dorothy E. Johnston recently passed into God's eternal care on Sunday, Aril 7, 2019.

 

 

A longtime resident of Willingboro, Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Hugh and Sarah Johnston, of Northern Ireland, both deceased.

 

She is the mother of Victoria Fellows of Franklin Park, NJ, Douglas Ball (Donna) of Marlton, NJ, Andrew Ball of Wyndmoor, PA and David Ball of New Orleans, LA. She is the proud grandmother of Douglas (Jennifer) and Randy Ball, Brian Fellows and Emily and Darren Ball and Great-Grandmother to James. Her sister, Noreen Johnston, lives in Westbury, New York. Her brother, Stanley is deceased as well as his wife, Lucy. Their children and grandchildren live on Long Island, New Hampshire and Morristown, NJ.

 

Dorothy was an ardent supporter of the Right to Choose and the Equal Rights Amendment and marched on Washington several times in support. She was a member of the National Organization for Women (NOW) for over 30 years. She was always looking for something new and exciting so she worked on repairing the Appalachian Trail the year she turned 65. She went back to college as an adult, graduating from Burlington County College and Glassboro State College with a BA degree in communications. Her real love was the Burlington County Times where she was Hometown Page editor for 8 years. She volunteered for many organizations including the Red Cross for 30 years, American Cancer Society, Philly Abundance and Ladle of Love, at St. Mary's Church in Burlington. She was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Willingboro where she served in several capacities.

 

Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held Friday, April 12, 2019,  11am at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 201 Levitt Parkway, Willingboro, NJ. Relatives and friends may call Friday Morning 10am – 11am at the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.
