Obituary of Robert A. Burke

 Mr. Robert Alexander Gomez-Burke, son of Joseph Gomez-Burke and Christina Carlisle, was born on July 28, 1928, in Roseau, Dominica in the West Indies, and departed this life on Wednesday July 4, 2018 in his home in Willingboro, NJ. His loving wife of 62 years, Griselda C. Burke, was at his side.

 He received his education in Roseau, Dominica. He was a Royal Constable in the Dominica Police Force and a Chief Sergeant in the Dominica Defense Force. He also worked at the Port Authority in Dominica for over 27 years.  

 Robert and Griselda moved to Willingboro NJ in May of 1978. He worked at various jobs and ended up with the Willingboro Board of Education. There he was a grounds keeper for over 20 years and retired in 2002.

 Robert loved telling stories of his life, talking on the phone to family/friends, and watching his favorite show- Sanford and Son. You could hear him laughing and laughing no matter how many times it came on.

 He leaves to cherish many fond memories his wife of 62 years, Griselda C. Burke of Willingboro,NJ;brothers Cecil Gomez-Burke-England, Reginald Gomez-Burke(Joan)-Roseau Dominica; sister Allison Southwell(Dermont)-Roseau Dominica; brother in law John Ryner - St Criox; sister in law Alice Burke- Bronx NY Sons: Kerry Burke-Dominica, Ronald Burke- Washington, Raymond Burke- Mt Holly NJ Daughters: Roselyn Victor(Michael)- Ft Lauderdale FL; Rose Hicks(Shawn)- Voorhees NJ; Rosamund Griffin(Reagan Sr)- Memphis TN Grandkids: Ronald Oxner, Tameka Billups,Latasha Baskerville,Rita Stafford,Ebonie Griffin,Reagan Griffin Jr.,Akil Hicks, Kilan Hicks, (and several others in Dominica) Great grandkids: Xavier Oxner,Jameer Baskerville,Austin Stafford,Charlie Oxner, and several others in Dominica)and also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends in the US and abroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Christina, his son Roland Burke (2005), brother Vivian Burke(2010), sister Ivaina Ryner (2016), and son Regan Burke (2016).

 Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, July 17,2018, 10:30am, at the Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 11 South Sunset Road,Willingboro,NJ.
