Janet Archer Reed, 87, Willingboro, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on July 11, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia on July 12, 1938, Janet was the daughter of the late Oliver Archer and Ruth Eddicks Archer Kelly, and the stepdaughter of the late Mervin Kelly.

Janet was a proud graduate of West Philadelphia High School and later earned her degree from Cheyney University. She dedicated her life to educating and nurturing children, building a rewarding career as an early childhood educator. Following her retirement from teaching, she continued her passion for caring for young people as a governess.

A gifted and creative individual, Janet also taught stained glass artistry and candle making. One of her most cherished endeavors was operating “Janet’s Tea Room,” where she hosted private gatherings and created memorable experiences for family, friends, and guests.

A woman of strong Baptist faith, Janet loved her church community and found great joy in spending time with family and friends. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her talents and kindness with those around her.

Janet’s many interests included swimming, Tai Chi, arts and crafts, traveling, gardening, and cooking. She embraced life with enthusiasm, creativity, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Byron Reed Sr., and her brother, Oliver Archer.

She is survived by her sister, Irene Archer Hollar; her children, Byron Reed Jr., Stephanie Hart, and Mark Reed; her grandchildren, Byron Reed III, Jonathan Hart, Jordyn Hart, and

Cameron Reed; and her great-grandchildren, Teagan Ziglar, Zeke Mafia-Hart, and Willow Hart. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Janet’s warmth, creativity, faith, and devotion to family will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched.

A private memorial service will be held for her family and close friends.
