Ricardo B. Larrier Obituary

Ricardo B. Larrier passed away, suddenly, on April 12 2026, at Our Lady of Lords Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. He was 77 years old.


Born, Ricardo Bruce Larrier, Atlantic City, New Jersey, on April 26 1948, to Shirley Elsie Larrier. Although, his father was unknown, he was loved and raised by Alger Wilheimer, until his death in August of 1965, and Patricia Simpson, until her death in 1986.


Ricardo had lived in Atlantic City, New Jersey in his child hood, The other places he had lived were Fort Dix, N.J., Fort Eustis, Va., Fort Rucker, Al., Bien Hoa Air Base, Vietnam, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga., Philadelphia, Pa., Collingswood, N.J., and, finally, Willingboro, N.J.


Ricardo was educated within the Atlantic City Education System, graduating from Atlantic City High School in the class of 1967. Soon after, He joined the United States Army, with an Aviation Maintenance billet. He was sent to Fort Dix, N.J. After graduating from Basic Training, he then wed his sweetheart, Arlene Shirley Brown, form Philadelphia, Pa., whom he meet on a blind date in 1965. They had wed on December 23, 1967, at her mother’s house, in Philadelphia. Soon he was sent out for training at Fort Eustis, Va. and Fort Rucker, Al. Then he had received his orders for Vietnam, where he was stationed at Bien Hoa Air Base, with the !st Aviation Brigade, 118th Assault Helicopter Company “Thunderbirds”. His tour lasted from December 1968 to December 1969. He then was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, near Savannah, Ga., with his bride, Arlene S. Larrier. They would remain there until his discharge in August 1970. Also while there, he had a part-time job at the local Chevrolette dealer as a mechanic. After his discharge, thsy moved back to Philadelphia to live with her mother, Rhoda A. Lambert. He would work a variety of odd jobs, such as a janitor at a bank, and at a metal recycling yard (Metal Bank of America) and finally, his first government job, working as a clerk for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a GS-02 in 1971. Then in1972 he was offered a job as an AIR Reserve Technician (ART) for the U.S. Army Reserve with the 79th ARCOM at the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, then to Willow Grove NAS in 1976, as a GS-06. This would be the beginning of the rest of his military career. This opportunity opened the door to later positions with the Navy at the Naval Air Propulsion Center (NAPC) from 1978 to 1987, as a Propulsion Technician. Then to the Aviation Supply Office (ASO), later Naval Inventory Control Point, as an Equipment Specialist, GS-09. His career at NAVICP lasted, with a total time of working as a DoD civilian, a total of a little more than 42 years.


Ricardo through out his working life received various training courses, awards and accolades, including a Associate of Arts Degree from Burlington County College in December 18, 1981.


Ricardo had many hobbies and interests to include, drawing and art, automotive mechanics (hotrods) and mechanics in general, i.e., aviation and auto mechanics. Aviation and its history. Music, in various genres. Movies and television. And a little bit of the news and politics.


Ricardo treated everyone he meet with fairness and kindness, always quick with a joke or with sage advise from years of experience and knowledge. Everyone who meet him would speak about his knowledge and kindness, and not to mention, his humor.


Ricardo, after his retirement, had many good years enjoying his hobbies. Surviving the loss of his wife, Arlene S. Larrier, on September 15, 2020. Then later in 2023 finding a new partner in Dorris Cheeseman, until his death.


Ricardo is survived by his son, Ricardo Bruce Larrier Jr. and his children, Aulora Dylece Jackson, Jarell Ashton Jackson, Isabella Colette Larrier and Ricardo Bruce Larrier III and his great grandchild, Audriana Davis. Also, his sisters and brother; Darlene Larrier, Patricia Brooks (Larrier), Marsha Tobe (Rice), Diane Rice, Angie Rice, Dede Rice Johnny Rice and his niece Simone Larrier, of whom he, in recent years, reconnected.


Ricardo was preceded by his wife, Arlene Shirley Larrier in September 15, 2020 and his two sisters Pamala Larrier and Tonia Larrier.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 9am - 11am at the Goes – Scolieri Funeral home, 212 Veterans Parkway, Willingboro, New Jersey, 08046. (609)871-1000.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of his family.
