Millard Mack, Jr. Obituary
Millard Mack Jr., born July 23, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, remembered always for his unwavering service, quiet strength, and genuine kindness that touched all who knew him.
After graduating from high school, Millard answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. A proud Army veteran, he rose through the ranks to become a Sergeant First Class (E-7), one of the Army’s senior non-commissioned officers. He served two tours in Vietnam with the 8th Battalion, 4th Artillery unit, where he earned the nickname “Smoke,” a reflection of his grit, presence, and the respect he commanded among his fellow soldiers.
His military career also brought him to Germany, where he met the love of his life, his beautiful and fun-loving wife, Molly. There, he also embraced his role as a devoted father to his stepdaughter, Eva.
In retirement, Millard enjoyed breakfast at the diner, chatting with Army friends, and trips to Atlantic City with Molly. Known for his warmth and unforgettable smile, he easily struck up conversations with everyone and left a lasting impression through his kindness and generosity.
Millard is survived by his loving daughter Eva Swantak; his grandson Glen Swantak and his wife Simone; and his three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Zoe, and Emma, who filled his life with boundless pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Molly; his brother, Sylvester; and his parents, Millard Mack and Emma Britton.
Millard was a hero not only in his military service but also in his everyday life, always ready to lend a helping hand, a kind word, or a warm smile.
May his memory be eternal.
