Albert E. "Al" Worcester Obituary

Albert E. Worcester, IV, of Willingboro, NJ entered into eternal rest at the age of 88 on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, NJ.

Albert “Al” was born on August 7, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to Albert E. Worcester, III and Helen (Morgan) Worcester. He was a graduate of Jules E. Mastbaum High School and was employed by Philadelphia Electric Company for 37 years as a Maintenance Foreman. Albert served in the United States Navy from 1957-1963 as an Aviation Electronics Technician 3rd Class (ATR3). A resident of Willingboro for 57 years, he considered his neighbors to be part of his extended family.

Al was devoted to his family and friends and throughout his life some of his greatest joys included traveling, cycling, woodworking, photography and camping in his RV. Traveling to France and spending time with family, and wintering in Texas in his RV were some of his most cherished adventures. He always focused on the bright side of any situation and encouraged others to embrace the positive because, “Things are never so bad that they couldn't be worse.” Al was outgoing and sociable, had a genuine gift for connecting with others effortlessly and was a captivating storyteller. He loved exchanging pleasantries, striking up conversations with strangers and never hesitated to go out of his way to help someone in need. His good sense of humor and optimism will be fondly remembered and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Al was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Barbara (Washam) Worcester; his parents, Albert E. Worcester III and Helen Worcester; his brother, Robert Worcester;  his stepdaughter, Lynne Gentile and his brother-in-law, Troy Washam.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jacqueline Shufeldt; his daughter, Karen W. Rooney (Kenneth); his son, Albert E. Worcester, V; his grandchildren, Erin Rooney (Daniel O'Brien), Fionna Rinaldi (Zachary) and Maura Rooney-Hwilka (Adam Hwilka); and his great-grandchildren, Rory Rinaldi and Rome Rinaldi. Albert is also survived by his stepdaughter, Michele Shufeldt; his stepson, Mark Shufeldt; his step-grandchildren, Richard Lynch (Maria Noriega), Talia Fishburn (Heath) and Kyle Shufeldt; his step-great-grandchildren, Genevieve Fishburn and Ulysses Lynch;  sister-in-law, Dorothy Michaels (Garrett) and brother-in-law, DeWayne Washam, and many other relatives from the Worcester, Washam and Shufeldt families.
