James G. Metcalf 

Our loving brother, James (Greg) Metcalf of Willingboro, NJ, died peacefully in his sleep on September 12, 2025. He was 65 years old. He was born in Hazelton, PA on December 7, 1959 to James and JoAnn Metcalf. Greg had relocated from New Jersey to Weaverville, NC where he had built his own home and worked in construction. He then moved to Indiana and then back to Willingboro to help care for his aging mother. 

Greg was a loving brother, son and uncle. He was a true friend to many. He loved music and played the guitar, singing along to his favorite songs. Some of his favorite times were spent jamming with his family and friends. He was a talented and creative craftsman and loved making items out of wood. He was a true outdoorsman, kayaking on the likes of the French Broad River in NC and camping and hiking trails from Maine to North Carolina. He was one of the best cooks around and loved to spend time trying new recipes in his kitchen. His cheesecakes were the favorite of his family, friends and co-workers. 

Greg is survived by his sisters Debra Waller and Patricia Moser; his brother Levgen Slovianskyi (Julia), his Aunts Wanda and Betty and his Uncle Jim; his brother-in-laws Tim, David and Tom; his niece Amy (Adam) and nephews Timmy (Eli), Benjamin (Rebecca), Dylan (Emily), Bogdan and Martin; and a host of cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Barbara and Karen Elaine, and his brother Kenny.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all his friends that stood by him for many years and the hospital staff at Virtua that took care of him in his final days. Of particular mention are his best friends in NC, Carl Ponder and Denise and Paul Montgomery; and his lifelong friends Vince and Teresa LaFranchi.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and he will be interred in his beloved Blue Ridge mountains.
